Resubmission to the Building Safety Regulator.
We’re pleased to report that both applications (one for Trelawney House and one for Piran Place) have been resubmitted for approval of the proposed works to the the Building Safety Regulator (BSR). This is following the rejection of the TH application, and subsequent withdrawal of the almost identical PP application, earlier this year.
It is deeply frsutrating that the regulator continues to be the main road-block to the start of these works and we have made a formal complaint about the whole process. This included asking our MP to write to the regulator on our behalf in an attempt to speed up the resubmission and not to reject it again on, what we considered to be, relatively trivial points that could easily have been amended/updated instead of forcing us to start the whole process from scratch. Thus sending us to the back of an already sizeable queue of other high-risk buildings seeking approval for their remedial works.
We’ve effectively been ready to begin the works since December 2024 but are simply not being allowed to proceed until the regulator signs everything off. We’ve even had to reapply for planning permission from Cornwall Council (which we’re pleased to report has once again been granted) as the condition to begin works by September 2025 under the last application had expired.
We will continue to update leaseholders and residents with information as we get it. But these repeated delays by the regulator have completely shifted our works programme, meaning it is now impossible to begin putting up scaffold until the spring.
